The Visitor

The Visitor is published anually by Zurich Tourism and created/designed by Passaport AG, which also publishes Transhelvetica, an awarded magazine from Zurich about Swiss culture, food and traditions. The Visitor is your companion for Zurich. Discover new places, restaurants, bars, shops and many more with The Visitor. In Zurich, space has a special significance. The city and its inhabitants are aware that their quality of life depends, among other things, on a thoughtful use of space. After all, a city isn’t just made up of traffic arteries; rather, it consists largely of spaces where people meet, where they become creative, where they move and relax. To ensure that Zurich’s quality of life remains high in the future, the city’s devel- opment plan focuses on social interaction, health, and open spaces. Two key phrases for this development are “the 2000-watt society”, which refers to the goal of each inhabitant of Zurich reducing their energy usage to no more than 2,000 watts per year, and “urban densification”, denoting the concept of using building areas as effi- ciently as possible and thus freeing up space for other uses.

    The Visitor No. 6

The Visitor No. 6 is out now. The Visitor is your companion and city guide for Zurich (Switzerland). In this issue of our city magazine, we’d like to show you a few places where Zurich has opened up spaces for the future. These include architectural jewels where visitors find not just enchanting details for the eyes, but also something to satisfy their palate; parks and lawns that are home to a multitude of animals; and rooms that change their appearance or offer scope for experiments. As a refreshment, we recommend trying a “Rakete”, the rocket-shaped ice pop that has become a Swiss summer classic.
