Human Being Journal Issue 6 is available now on loremnotipsum.com. Sometimes disruptiveness, innovation and irreverence look ordinary. Human Being Journal issue 6, In Plain Sight, is a collaboration between Human Being and Soulland, the celebrated Danish menswear label. Together, we turned to compelling thoughts, things and stories hidden, often literally, In Plain Sight.

We met the one and only Tok Kise and ruminated on simplicity, singularity and vision in his Osaka studio. We explored new minimalism with the Los Angeles sisters behind Building Block. We brought a stack of real guns into our studio for a sunny Saturday shoot and had some celebrated chefs reimagine prison food. The elusive Elmgreen and Dragset talked to us about social subversions and artsy mischief. We looked inside once-auspicious landscapes in America is Dead, glimpse an amped-up youth subculture as alive today as it was in Larry Clark’s Tulsa, and Mikael Kennedy took us across the forgotten and otherworldly US state of New Mexico. We did two special cover shoots, too. Sascha Oda was behind the camera for a high-contrast ode to Poul Kjærholm’s iconic Danish design in PK2015 and newcomer Juliette Cassidy travelled to the alien landscape of California for Plane Sight. As always, we spoke to six Humans—exceptional people in our orbit who exemplify the theme. For In Plain Sight, we included Dutch masters Gert Jonkers and Yvette van Boven, musician Mike Skinner, artist Kevin Lyons, author and DJ, Maria Gerhardt, and Zio Baritaux, the brains behind Strange Plants.
