Salt & Wonder “Inside the bean” is available now on loremnotipsum.com. “Inside the bean” is a zine about coffee. The little zine started with a few coincidences a few years ago over a coffee in Zurich. One was Anna, heart, drive, and soul of Salt & Wonder. The other was Alicia, our first super fan, seeking some inspiration and community. Coffee is more than caffeine, more than a means to an end.

We were new to coffee — specialty coffee to be exact — what makes it so special after all? What do these hipsters in their cafés know that we don’t? So we made this little zine with the intention to be a guide. To break up the fear and show how diverse and inviting the world of specialty coffee can be. We also feature the work of a few very-talented illustrators from across the globe throughout. Coffee is universal after all.

Combined with our awesome editorial contributors: Thomas Hendricks, Jordan Rose, Elysabeth Cianci. We’re no coffee experts, but we drink it so much we wanted to know more. Turns out it’s nothing to be afraid of, just something to explore. Where might it take you?

We also feature the work of a few very-talented illustrators from across the globe throughout. Coffee is universal after all: Le.BLUE based in London, Claudia Salgueiro, Sara Farina, Yui Watanabe and Ana Vee Valdez.

Salt & Wonder magazine is portraying the roots and new movements of the culinary startup culture, one city at a time. Our first annual print issue is dedicated to Lisbon. Three chapters split into eight basic ingredients of the Portuguese cuisine unveil impassioned entrepreneurs and their innovative visions, with roots in the age-old belief about the importance of simplicity. We are going beyond the surface of the start-up movement in cities of change, tracking roots to understand new directions. Salt & Wonder magazine was backed on Kickstarter.com and founded by Anna Sarcletti, a creative from Austria’s countryside. It all started as an artistic, student project beginning of the 2016. Living in magical Lisbon spawned the idea to give it an own voice. In launching a print magazine, Anna saw an opportunity to showcase her design beliefs in an authentic, remaining piece. Together with creatives from USA, Portugal, Austria, Finland, Brazil and South Africa, the mission became to show a unique perspective of The New Old Lisbon. The editorial voice behind Salt & Water is Thomas Austin Rose from Vermont.
