Alla Carta No. 14

Alla Carta No. 14 (Spring/Summer 2019) is out now. Ugo La Pietra defines the private space as an expression of the personality of the people who live there and possess it not only physically but mentally too. In his words, “Conceptuality and the spectacular are components that we find in the private space, where affections, memories and passions are everyday emotions that govern our mental space and where all domestic objects rise systematically thanks to the continuous quest of the individual or group to reconstruct their own world”. Intrigued by these affections, memories and passions, we decided to dedicate this is- sue of Alla Carta to the home and living, therefore revealing the practices of the private space. We reflect on the relationship between private and public, home and work, family space and community space. To use his words once more, “we break down the barrier between public and private by creating beneficial conflicts between these two worlds”. The issue features breakfast with architect Umberto Riva, lunch with artist Diego Perrone, dinner with fashion designer Matthew Adams Dolan, SS19 collections and much more.

Alla Carta is a bi-annual international publication that approaches high-end fashion, art and design in an unique Italian way. We truly believe in paper, carta in Italian. At a time when the web may appear to be the only valid avenue of communication, Alla Carta is an ode to the most precious of mediums and to the most precious moment of the day: our interviews always take place around a table, to celebrate one of the oldest Italian habits, conviviality.
