Citizen is a new bi-annual magazine. A contribution and collective portfolio documenting black culture, intellect, aesthetic and nuance – rooted in collaboration and connection. Citizen is centered in blackness, but aims to bring everyone in, it’s simply for those who are interesting and interested in culture at large. In 2017, the idea for Citizen magazine was born out of the desire to see something that does not quite exist, an independent magazine documenting Black life and culture through the words of Black thinkers and the lenses of Black creatives, a beautifully designed record of Black life that one could sit with and learn from each time they parted the pages. By us, for everyone.
