Rabona Magazine Issue One features exclusive interviews with Sporting Lisbon’s England U21 star Eric Dier, charismatic Everton Ladies and England striker Toni Duggan and Millwall Chairman John Berylson, who discusses the need for a salary cap in football. There’s plenty of outstanding photography, including Ryu Voelkel’s iconic gallery of England versus Poland at Wembley and Joe Hart’s night against Bayern Munich. We also teamed up with Nike and The Mirror’s John Cross to bring a superbly candid interview with Kieran Gibbs to the cover, which features some brilliant exclusive shots of the Arsenal left-back by Phil Sharp.
Rabona Magazine is a brand new football magazine published bi-annually. The whole magazine is beautifully designed by Russian studio QUSQUS and printed by the excellent Logical Connections in England. The “rabona” is a method of kicking the football, whereby the kicking leg is wrapped around the back of the standing leg – effectively with one’s leg crossed. The first Rabona was performed by Ricardo Infante in a game between Argentine teams Estudiantes de la Plata and Rosario Central in 1948. Rabona Magazine is a celebration of great football journalism, iconic photography and a slow appreciation of everything that makes the game beautiful.
