Entangled Landscapes Vol. 1 (Abruzzo) is available now on loremnotipsum.com. Volume 1 is now ready to travel out into the world, and into the hands of you, dear readers.
In the process of creating this little magical jewel we’ve had the immense pleasure and honor of meeting and collaborating with a group of deeply inspiring people, projects, and organisations, and it has been nothing but amazing, uplifting, and often deeply moving to get to know these incredible people and to learn about the fascinating work unfolding in the region of Abruzzo. Our hearts are full of gratitude to everyone who has taken part in the co-creation of this beautiful little bundle of gems. We know that Abruzzo contains many more stories than the ones we have been able to portray in this volume, but we believe this collection is a good place to start the exploration of magical Abruzzo!
Entangled Landscapes is an independent print publication through which we are Telling Regional Food Stories. With this publication, we wish to tell stories about the many entangled and regenerative efforts, visions, and practices that all co-exist and intersect within the realm of food and agriculture – all in the context of one specific region at a time.
With Entangled Landscapes, we will be exploring the myriad regions of the world and their distinct food cultures, agricultural landscapes, as well as the nourishing practices and inspiring beings who have shaped, and continue to shape these areas collaboratively. With Entangled Landscapes, we therefore seek to tell stories of regional practices that nourish the landscapes and the world around them, and which create more life than they destroy. Practices that do not rely on the dominating logic of exploitation for profit, but which rather reimagine a present and future that is nourishing, responsible, and resilient; ways of living that enable flourishing, rather than extinction.
Entangled Landscapes can be understood as equal parts inspirational reading for everyone, and equal parts travel inspiration for those who wish to explore the world in a more sensitive manner. Our stories can therefore be read as travel inspiration before, during, and after the trip but also when there is no trip at all. We hope to empower and inspire our readers to discover and explore new and nourishing ways of engaging with the landscapes we co-inhabit.
As with everything we do, we make no claims to knowing what food and agricultural sustainability should mean to all of us, since we recognize the topic’s complex and multi-dimensional character, and the need for acknowledging regional and local specificities. We are therefore not seeking universal definitions, since from our point of view, there is no one-size-fits-all solution or approach to sustainability that will be universally applicable and successful. In contrast, we are interested in exploring place-based approaches, and Local Ways of Knowing.
Entangled Landscapes is a sister publication to The Preserve Journal.
